SABBIONERE COMPANY

THE SOUL OF AZIENDA SABBIONERE

Founded in 2023, our winery stems from an ambitious and determined vision: to restore the viticultural heritage of Valperga to its ancient prestige and splendor. The Sabbionere project is built upon four fundamental pillars: courage, expertise, dedication, and resilience.

Our philosophy blends the heritage passed down by our grandparents and their profound passion with the most innovative viticultural and oenological techniques. The result is a selection of wines capable of narrating the traditions and roots of this ancient land, harmonizing with the present while keeping a steady gaze toward the future.

Our vineyards stretch across the plains of the Valperga district and the evocative terraced hillsides that mark the beginning of the "Sabbionere" natural path. This unique terroir is nestled within the area of the Sacro Monte di Belmonte, declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2003.

The origins of a tradition

FAMILY TRADITION

Family tradition has deep roots in the Valperghese area, the heart of the Alto Canavese region. It's difficult to pinpoint a precise date for when our winemaking began, as the vineyards and historic farmhouse have always belonged to our family. However, a study of municipal documents reveals evidence that traces the farmhouse's origins back to the early 1600s. Thanks to our ancestors and, later, our great-grandfather Giovanni, who firmly believed in the area's winemaking potential, the vineyards have been handed down to the present day.

PLAN DE LA COMUNE DE VALPERGA

In the photo we see the Plan de la Commune de Valperga from 1793 "State Archives of Turin", which shows how our hilly lands were already historically cultivated with vineyards.

PRESSING OF THE MARC

In the photo, we see grandfather Giuseppe pressing the pomace using the farmhouse's historic press. Pressing is the process performed in the cellar to extract the must from the grapes after pressing or to extract wine from the pomace that has been fermented in the fermentation tanks.

WILLOW FOR VINE TYING

Among agricultural traditions there is a technique, which we continue, practically in disuse linked to the use of willow to tie the vine.
